Event Volunteering
It is because of our valuable volunteers that the Almaden Senior Program is a success. To continue to encourage participation, we are adding some benefits for volunteers. Each person that volunteers for a scheduled shift to perform event set-up, kitchen help, table setup or serving, will be able to purchase tickets in advance of the scheduled ticket sales date posted in the monthly brochure. In addition, you will receive 2 "Reserved" signs to reserve a spot for you and a guest.
An announcement will be made during morning stretch class for volunteer sign ups. If you’d like to volunteer for an event but you are not a participant in the morning stretch class, please contact Bekah at (408) 268-1133 or send her an e-mail at info@almadenseniors.org with “volunteer” in the subject line and include your name and phone number. Your name will be added to a list for future volunteer opportunities. Volunteering is fun and you will really enjoy the comradery.
Knife Sharpening
If you need your knives sharpened, let our skilled chefs, James and Aaron, use their industrial sharpener to keep your favorite knives in good condition. Call 268-1133 and ask to speak with James to set up your appointment today! $5 for 3 knives.

Thursday Morning Bread Delivery

We have been very fortunate here at the Almaden Community Center to have dedicated volunteers who continuously scour the local stores to bring in free bread to all who need it. These volunteers have repeatedly run into problems at the community center while delivering the bread. In effect a sign in sheet has been provided for all who enjoy the free bread.
The signing in for bread has helped the volunteers to deliver the bread in a calm & respectful manner. This also allows for the bread to be distributed fairly to all interested participants. Any suggestions or comments are appreciated.
Almaden Kitchen Helpers Needed
Ever wonder what it’s like to prepare crème brûlée for 200 or work in a commercial restaurant kitchen? Well the opportunity is always here. The Senior Association is fortunate to have two Culinary Institute of America alumni, restaurant owners, chefs, and over 60 years of food service experience in our kitchen. The core staff is always looking for new volunteers to help with our monthly events. You can get in on all the action from menu planning, portion control, ordering, prep, cooking to service. If you’re willing to listen, learn, chop, peel, and say “Yes Chef”, you’re always welcome. Please contact Bekah to get involved
