and gym programs.
James Barcia
As of January 3, 2008, we began cooking on site at
our Almaden Cafe. Many of you may have already
tasted the great food that we have been serving.
The genius behind the meals is James Barcia.
James, our new Chef, has an extensive background in the
food industry, including time working on Norwegian Cruse
Lines and at the Almaden Country Club. James has
also attended the California Culinary Academy and caters
special events on the side.
Surendra Prasad
Suren, our new Kitchen Aid, began working at the
Almaden Community Center in late 2007. Suren came
to us "on loan" from Willows Senior Center, but quickly
became such a valuable part of our team we didn't want
to let him go back. When not at Almaden, Suren
spends time with his family which includes his wife,
children, and grandchildren.
Sunshine Committee
Know of someone who needs to be remembered?
The Almaden Senior Program has a Sunshine Committee
which is in charge of making sure cards are sent out to
all members for their various life events. Vivian
Mallow is currently the chairperson of this committee
and is great at making sure all get good cheer.
Call the office if you would like us to get a card off
to someone.
Donations Needed
Our Almaden Crochet and Knitting group is hard at
work again, this time making lap robes for thos in
nursing homes. To aid in their effort, they are
looking for donations of yarn and crochet hooks.
Donations can be dropped off at the front counter.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
