22, 2008
Almaden Golf and Country Club
This September, the Almaden
Community Center will host its second annual charity
golf tournament. All proceeds from this tournament
will benefit Friends of CARRA in honor of local Almaden
resident Christina Powery who passed away at age ten
from Juvenile Dermatomyositis. Friends of CARRA
dedicate its time and resources for finding a cure for
all forms of childhood rheumatic diseases.
The cost, which is normally
$175, is only $150 if you are a senior program member.
This fee covers your golf, golf cart, range balls,
lunch, official tournament gift bag, raffle prizes, and
dinner awards ceremony. Registration and donations
are tax deductible.
Don't have a foursome?
No problem, we will pair you up with other members from
our program.
James Barcia is our new
Food Service Coordinator
Please join us in congratulating James Barcia in his
promotion to Food Service Coordinator. James has
been preparing our meals at Almaden since January, and
anyone who has tasted his meals can attest to his
talent. James will now be taking his extensive
background in the food service industry and using it to
take our lunch program to new heights.
Sizzlin' Volunteers Needed
Friday, August 15 at 6:00
p.m. the Almaden Community Center will be hosting
Sizzlin' Summer Night, a fun-packed event for all ages
which will include food, games, a car show and, best of
all: a dunk tank where you will have the opportunity to
soak your favorite staff. Lots of volunteers are
needed to make this event a success. Jobs include
working carnival games, monitoring cars, food sales, and
baking cupcakes for the cupcake walk. If you are
interested in helping out at this great event, stop by
the front desk and sign up. For more info, call
Torie or Jamie at 268-1133.
Sunshine Committee
Know of someone who needs to be remembered?
The Almaden Senior Program has a Sunshine Committee
which is in charge of making sure cards are sent out to
all members for their various life events. Vivian
Malloy is currently the chairperson of this committee
and is great at making sure all get good cheer.
Call the office if you would like us to get a card off
to someone.
